Clarke & Co

I recently used Clarke and Company for a domestic home move. I choose them over others, not on price, but rather on the fact that they offered me a customised approach toward my move.
My wife and I were delivered with some boxes in advance on the proviso that we would do some of the initial pack/up and moving (as our move was within walking distance of our existing property), and than were supposed to get support for both packing and unpacking from Clarke & Co. We arranged for parking restrictions to apply (at our cost) to facilitate the moving process.
On the day, we found that Clarke & Co uses another supplier called Unicorn for their service.  They did not seem to be fully aware of our agreement and while they carried our stuff into the Van and removed it, they did not do nearly the packing up that we were expecting, did not do it carefully as expected, and did not unpack as promised. They did put the major pieces in place but  I had been told that we could have supervised service so that all of our clothes, ornaments etc would be removed and all boxes taken away the same day. 
Perhaps this was too much to expect from a removal company but with the bill at nearly £1000 before VAT this was what I was expecting.
I also noted that a few items were damaged upon being  brought over from one premise to another. It was not fully clear where blamed lie, but I was anticipating that I could be compensated by the mover as many advertise that they insure for up to £25k of removal damage as part of the service. However, this does not appear to be the case, or needs to be reported straight away.
Overall, the service did not deliver the hassle free results I was hoping to get having paid a premium price and did not compare favourably to past experiences. .
